'Ngano'

Ngano is an archival based mixed-media project offering a space to look at art as a mode of intergenerational storytelling. It asks the question how does the art shown today tell me about the life of my mother, her mother and her mother's mother. Drawing from the Shona concept of folktale shared across generations, the project imagines the artistic archive as a space where memory, artistic practice and ancestry intersect. Ngano is a reflection on transmission, history and emotion through artistic inheritance.

'Ngano' noun. Shona; folktale or traditional story traditional told by elders.
